Milli ~ recovery - Day 4

Van Helsing slept in a little bit later today. He's up now though. No, actually up - he's walking around - slowly.

Beowulf is laying on the bed, head on his paws, watching intently.

Gretchen has no idea who Van Helsing is, she's just wandering around and helping with the construction. But someone left the door cracked to VH's room, and she sees Beowulf. WHEEE! Puppy!

"Hey, boy, who are you?"

She holds out a hand for him to sniff.

Beowulf stretches as far as he can without actually getting off the bed, to sniff at her hand. Lazy dog. His tail thumps on the bed a couple times.

Van Helsing is leaning in the doorway to the bathroom - he had to stop walking for a minute. He does, however, answer her question.

"That's Beowulf."

"Oh, hi, didn't see you there. Hello, Beowulf."

She steps inside just enough to scritch his ears.

He waves. "Not a problem. As long as you don't want me to do much more than stand here," he says with a tiny tilt upward of one corner of his mouth.

"Of course, now your Beowulf's new best friend."

"I always need more friends."

She smiles at him, and keeps petting Beowulf.

"I'm Gretchen. I live here."

"Nice to meet you, Gretchen. I'm Van Helsing. I don't, generally live here."

He's been hearing the banging and such lately.

"So, what's with all the noise downstairs?"

*Tiki wonders into the room, but seeing the dog that is OH SO MUCH LARGER THAN SHE IS, becomes VERY AFRAID*

*Still eying the dog, she speaks up*

"Will he try to eat me?", she asks bluntly.

Van Helsing looks at the strange human-like creature from his not-so-exciting vantage point by the chair.

He shrugs. "Not unless I tell him to," he replies. "I, so far, I see no reason to tell him to."

*Somewhat, but not entirely comforted by this, Tiki slowly flies a few more inches into the room*

"My name is Tiki"

"Tiki?" Unusual name, but, then again, this *is* Milliways. "I'm Van Helsing."

He looks a bit more closely at the... at Tiki. "If you don't mind my asking, what are you?"

"We're rebuilding the Staff Quarters. It needed more space and re-designing."

She kneels on the floor beside the bed and bumps noses with Beowulf

"Oh. I'm a faerie.

And, it's not an unusual faerie name."

*Tiki eyes the dog again*

Beowulf licks her chin and his tail thumps on the bed some more.

Van Helsing laughs. He'd move, but that takes a great deal of effort.

"I'd offer to help, but walking seems to be a bit of an issue for me here lately."

"A faerie?"

Had Carl mentioned them before? He can't remember. So...

"What's a faerie?"


Beowulf looks up at the fluttering figure and tilts his head.

She laughs and ruffles Beowulf's fur.

"Who's a good boy?...oh, are you hurt?"

"What's a faerie?" Tiki repeats, thinking.

"Well, we fly, and we can do basic magic...

We're really nice, happy, little creatures."

*Tiki inches away from the dog, hoping he's not hungry*

He blinks. There's someone in the bar who *missed* the 7-foot hairy beast the other night?

"Little bit. Probably more muscle strain than anything else. Had a bit of a fight the other evening."


Beowulf - he does that tail wagging thing some more.

"Oh. I see."

In the way that he really doesn't understand, but he'll take her word for it.

He does, however, hold out a hand, palm up. "You can come closer. Like I said, he won't bother you."

Beowulf drops his head back to his paws, looking between Van Helsing and the door.

*Tiki flies closer - slowly. She lights on his palm, but she's ready to fly away at a moment's notice. She's still a bit nervous*

"What about you? Why are you up here?"

"Recovering."

If she's afraid of the dog, best to not mention the whole werewolf thing too soon.

*Concerned now*

"Recovering? What happened?"

"Bit of a fight the other night. Made quite a mess. Hurt a few people."

Still with the vague. Really.

*Tiki doesn't notice the vague. She's happily obvilous that way*

"I'm sorry you got hurt."

Still trying to understand how killing people is sometimes a good thing (when they're bad), Tiki asks, "Was the fight good?"

A little sadness in his eyes, he shakes his head. "Not this time."

*Feeling more comfortable, Tiki wishes she could comfort him*

"Can I help you somehow?"

"I don't think so. Not anymore than just stopping by to visit. It gets a little lonely just wandering around up here."

Beowulf whines a little.

"Well, since he doesn't talk back." He indicates the dog. "But thank you."

"I bet it does," Tiki says seriously.

"Would you like anything to eat or drink or...do you need anything to speed up recovery?"

"No. Thank you. I'm fine. There's a bevy of rats who bring things up. And Natalie's pretty good with making sure I eat. As far as speeding up the recovery. If you can find something, that'd be nice. Sore muscles are no fun."

*Tiki considers this. Then, remembering something her mentor once told her once, she concentrates, and a salve appears next to Van Helsing*

"That might help"

He looks at the item. "Yeah? Might give it a try then." He shrugs. "Can't hurt. Thanks."

*Tiki smiles*

"No problem. Let me know if I can do anything else to help you."

"This should be enough for now. Thanks."

"I promised The Nice Lady that I would meet her in the library, so I best be off now.

I hope you feel better soon. I'll be back to visit."
