Luc is leaning in the doorway between the living room and the kitchen, phone to his ear. He's speaking softly and trying to guage how far out Az is. He's arranged dinner on the table and artfully hidden the boxes dinner arrived in in the trash. Wine's been poured - red to go nicely with the steak and vegetables - and the lights are down, candles on the table. It's all quite nice and more trouble than he'd normally go to, but he didn't actually cook, so he took a few extra steps.


He speaks into the phone again, "I'm hard and naked, sitting here at the table, waiting for you. I'm touching myself and not pretending it's you, because I'm mad at you for being late... dinner's getting cold."

Azazel's two blocks from home, walking because it's a nice evening out, and he's rolling his eyes.

"Like hell you are. Dinner's not ready, and you're busy slaving over a stove. Face it, there's no way you're going to have it finished by the time I get home."

But he's smiling.

"How little faith you have in me, my love. I'm appalled. Dinner's going to be cold and I'm going to be enjoying myself in the bedroom - without you."

Luc is sitting at the dinner table, in his suit - complete with tie and jacket even - legs crossed casually and he's not leaning on the table - one does not put one's elbows on the dinner table.

"You can't enjoy yourself in the bedroom without me - it's not possible," he says, his voice dipping in volume as he passes by an old couple out for a stroll. "Just make sure you don't put out the meat until I'm at the lobby. You know I hate when it's tough."

"Oh - too late. The meat's out, heavy and hot against my thigh. You should be here."

There's a pause and Luc covers the phone like he might be speaking to someone out of the room.

"And what makes you think I'll be alone in the bedroom?"

"The fact that I know you, Luc," he says, rounding the corner to the apartment building, "and that I didn't hear you talking to anyone."

Although he's having difficulty getting the image of Luc's 'meat' out of his head.

"You didn't hear, thus you assume I'm alone? Remind me to never use you as my co-counsel."

He shakes his head, rolling his eyes, corner of his mouth quirked up just enough to see a difference from the normal, hard-line.

"Wasn't ever going to suggest it. Remember, I would have flunked high school if it hadn't been for you."

He chuckles, opening the front door.

"Right, I'm coming into the lobby - put the meat out now, love? I'll be up in 5 minutes."

"Dearest - we didn't actually go to high school."

Lucifer hates the ignorant pretense of 'making up' a life for himself.

"And I already told you - the meat is out."

"If we'd ever gone."

He presses the button for the elevator - call it a lazy mood.

"Are you stroking it? Making it nice and tender for me?"

"Your cooking analogies are terrible. Stroking it and making it tender shouldn't be together. Pounding it, on the other hand..."

He's a tease and a bastard.

"Like I know how to cook."

Static as the he gets into the elevator.

"I'll be up in a second, love. Just get the food ready - I'm starving."

He smirks.

"You cook better than I do."

He's seen Az actually cooking - really - he's better at it.

"The food is ready..." The line goes dead when Az hangs up.

No matter, as two minutes later there's an Azazel coming in through the front door, hanging his jacket up, closing the door, and making his way into the kitchen, eyeing up the meal that's set out.

"And I thought you were joking."

"About which, dear? The food or being naked?"

Because he's certainly not naked.

"The food being ready," he says with a level gaze, grinning as he goes to steal a kiss from Luc. "I knew you weren't naked."

Luc smirks and waves for Az to sit.

"You should eat before it actually does get cold."

He nods, and steals another kiss as he passes Luc to move to his seat, sitting down, elbows on the table as he leans his chin on his entwined fingers to watch Luc.

"Joining me or not?"

He frowns. "Not until you get your elbows off my table."

He unfolds his napkin and places it in his lap.

He raises an eyebrow, but removes his elbows from the table, taking his napkin to his lap.

"I keep forgetting you like good manners."

"Actually, in my school of manners, you blow the host before dinner, but since you took so long getting your sweet ass up here, you have to wait, because I'm hungry."

He laughs.

"I think I'll get enough protein with my meal, thank you all the same," he says as he starts to eat his dinner.

He's silent as he passes a bowl of vegetables to Az.

He takes the bowl of vegetables, his fingers sliding against Luc's as he looks up at him, just for a moment.

"Which wine do we have?"

"It's a fantastic red from the south of France."

He's not even lifted his glass yet. Too busy not!looking at Luc and eating his dinner. Making sure he does so slowly.
